Giddy Up a Ding Dong

Frankly I prefer this song sung in Swedish by Cacka Israelsson, but maybe that's because I've been hanging around here too long.

Ola & the Janglers - What a way to die (1968)

I love this. Each time I watch it, I'm discovering more. What you see is not what you get. This is the actual "band that starts playing different tunes". Most orchestra members aren't even musicians, but probably randomly chosen people in the audience. You can tell by the way some hold their instrument. One of the violin bows has it's hair hanging loose and in upper left there's a man holding a mandolin as if it's a violin, playing it with an invisible bow.
The conductor is not a conductor. Apart from the fact that he conducts events that are not occur, and doesn't conduct things that are, a real one would have never allowed a clarinet lady to stand up to unintentionally mimick an obscure atonal piece of John Cage while two melodious oboes are sounding. But he is trying very hard with dramatic arm movements and a serious expression on his face. Watch 0:20, I believe he's making "no-no-no not yet" gestures for the orchestra to put down their instruments again.

And then that adorable trumpettist: "Yes, I know... this is my solo. I started well on time. Hey... Why is this fellow in front of me pointing towards me? Is he trying to distract my attention or ...? Oh yes, I see, I must stand up. Almost forgot, sorry"

And of course there's the fade out, but no, this is no plagiarism. Ola Håkansson was just influenced!

J. B. Lenoir, a Swedish lesson and some acrobatic poetry

Here's J. B. and his friends Rönnog and Steve Seaberg. They interview him about his family and tranlates everything to Swedish. Then J. B. plays his song Round and Round which he dedicates to his daughter Barbara Ann. Rönnog translates everything to Swedish. Steve gets bored and picks up a guitar and plays along.

Much, much later ...

The Seaberg couple invented acrobatic poetry.
Here is
Rönnog, Steve and Courtney Seaberg with Mark Wolfe performing Rönnog's poem "Changing the World" in 2006.
Rönnog passed away the year after. But Steve and Mark Wolf has continued their acrobatic poetry career.
They also perform in nude which can be experienced here.

For El Klan, Love is a Swedish Thing

Recorded by the the Mexican group El Klan in Sweden in the late sixties, Love is a Swedish Thing is a mix of funk and Herb Alpert sound-alikes. Swedes would be advised to check local charity shops just in case the guys had to leave some of their wardrobe behind before returning home.

The Spotnicks outfits

A scan from my collection, their records are quite easy to find on fleamarkets (in Europe i guess).
The band is still playing nowadays, mainly in Sweden, check their official website

Vårdad Klädsel

A few days ago my friend (and former PCL contributor) HTMPL Prod. bought a 45 for the neat prize of 3350 SEK (Swedish Crowns). That is approximately 498 US Dollars or 350 Euro.
The single is considered to be the first punk 45 to be released by a Swedish band.
The band was Kriminella Gitarrer. The 45 was "Vårdad Klädsel".
Boomp3.com
The mp3 (and image) above is not from this particular rarity, but from an earlier post over at KBD Records.

HTMPL Prod. is in heaven. The production is in hell. A good bargain.
