Go Fight For Her
WHAT? Your lady dumped you on New Year's Eve? Follow the advice of the Astronauts and Go Fight For Her. Chicks love that sort of thing, I know I used to be a chick myself once.
I Fear the Night
Does anyone else share my uno-uno-uno-uno-phobia, fear of 1/1/11?
New Year's Eve is tough on the chronically phobic, there's Kainolophobia (fear of anything new) and if you try to celebrate, there's always Cherophobia (fear of gaiety), and if the party gets crowded there's Bromidrosiphobia (fear of body smells). Or what if the party gets really wild (Ithyphallophobia- Fear of seeing, thinking about or having an erect penis)!
At least Otto Cesana and his soothing Voices of Venus understand my Nyctophobia.... "I Fear the Night"......

Taboo
"Masami Kawahara presents Taboo ( タブー (禁断) a song from her 1970 album named Kokotsu (Ecstasy)" uploaded to YouTube by Nenuupharr
You can't be sure what's really happening but I don't think it's SFW.
I Love You and Don't Forget It
Anyone feeling the need to cleanse their musical palate after the endless deluge of holiday related songs? How about some comforting cheesy Hammond a la Latin, with its unrelenting duh-duh-DUUUUH-duh-duhduhduhduh beat. Aaah, now I have the strength to ignore all those "Best of 2010" blog posts that are the scourge of this time of year.
Does the song title "I Love You and Don't Forget It" sound a wee bit aggressive to you? No?

Granny's Mini Skirt
Irene "Granny" Ryan warbles on about her old, withered body in this 60's novelty record.
Where are the novelty records of today? Jon Hamm singing classic pop tunes from the Sixties? A Snooki Holiday LP? Charlie Sheen singing smarmy lounge tunes?
Future generations will never know the joy of the celebrity record unless they get off the dime!
Thanks Granny!
BookSteves Library's, Steve T. gets full credit and props on his FB page. Thanks Steven!

The Boring Post
I have a high tolerance for boring; in fact I find that the more I dig into the more mundane parts of life looking for beauty and oddness, the happier I get. The online Furnace Sticker Museum is an old favorite, .I have no idea what possessed me to seek it out again, but it's still around, and completely unchanged from when I first saw it probably 5 or more years ago.
In response to my Facebook post of the sticker museum, Tidious Ted responded with the gloriously unnecessary Femtiolasjakten site, a love affair with the thermos flask. Now if only these museums had gift shop t-shirts, my life would be complete.

Birthday Wishes
What birthday present do you buy a man who already has everything? I simply have no idea, so I guess I will just have to hop into my soviet-era flying car and fly off to the Scandinavian part of the world to personally wish PCL-founder MR. DANTE FONTANA the happiest of birthdays.
Thank you for being born, and making the internet world so much more interesting!

The Great Rupert
You can call it "Rupert The Great", you can call it "A Christmas Wish", you can call it "Willie The Squowse" but I call it one of my favorite movies! There are tons of free public domain versions floating around, and all of them are of very low quality, both audio and video. Despite this, I bought several DVDs in the hopes it would be better. FINALLY, I got a hold of a DVD copy with the re-title "A Christmas Wish" and it looked and sounded GREAT! It had both the B&W and a colorized version. The colorized one wasn't very good, so I'm glad they included BOTH versions. Terry Moore supplied some fun informative commentary. If you are a George Pal or Jimmy Durante fan you'll love this. Heard they used real dead stuffed squirrels for the animation in addition to some live shots!
There's a free version of the entire movie at Internet Archive that has pretty good video but the audio is a little muffled.
The Great Rupert, is a 1950 comedy family film, produced by George Pal, directed by Irving Pichel and starring Jimmy Durante, Tom Drake and Terry Moore. It is based on a story, written by Ted Allan, which has also been published as a children's book under the title "Willie the Squowse". (source: Wiki)

Master every situation through YUBIWAZA!
Although Yubiwaza's origins don't possess the unsanity of Count Dante's story, N.J. Fleming's story(page 40) remains, as the kids say, a cautionary tale.
Mr. Dan Kelly (who wrote this article about Count Dante) has some fine examples of classic martial arts ads from comics of the '60s to the '80s and some links as well as a little more about Yubiwaza.
Kings of the Steel Guitar
"Kings of the Steel Guitar" features: Pete Wade, Leon McAuliff, Herb Remington, and Jenks Carmen on the bargain Design label. Not all C&W numbers here: a weird rockin' Oriental flavored number, a Sleepwalk styled track (or two), and a tune entitled, "Hillbilly Hula" which falls in the, "this I've got to see" category.

Tracks in Isolation
Studio Multitracks - Tracks in Isolation is an intersting music blog where Henry posts well-known songs on which one or several tracks has been separeted from the multitracks of the finished product. For example if you have been waiting all your life to hear just the vocals from Def Leppard's "Rock of Ages", or just Debbie Harry's vocal track to "Hanging on the Telephone" (at least some of it), or if you are a slut for Eddie Van Halen' guitar work on Michael Jackson's "Beat It", or as in my case loves to listen to the Vocals/Keyboard/Bass/Drums/Guitar Solo tracks of The Carpenters "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" this is the place for You!

Nize Baby, that Milt Gross
Author/cartoonist Milt Gross gained popularity with his Nize Baby stories, chock full of Yiddish phonetic dialect which had to be read aloud to be deciphered. His Sunday Funnies were so popular they even turned up as the backdrop of a Hollywood musical number (warning to Lex Ten, Betty Hutton alert).

Answer Songs: Big Bad Jane
It's been a while since we posted an "answer song", a parody or other attempt to cash in by recording a tune that references a hit song. This one is Big Bad Jane by the 4 Saints, a parody of Big John.
It's Hawaiian, It's Dutch, It's Ventriloquism?
I have absolutely no idea what is going on with this album, which is why I listen to a lot of music in languages I don't understand, I really enjoy being befuddled. It stimulates the imagination. Splogman, can you explain?
