The Beatniks

"Those beret-wearing buffoons. Don't you hate 'em? Stick that poetry up your backside, buster."

Let's all be quiet and play well

Let's all be quiet and play well, is the new Aperitivo radio show.
This week we enjoy a kind of silence, silence for the souls, silence all around except the sound of Aperitivo and an hypnotism experiment.
With a little help from Wevie Stonder, Sun Ra, Tom Ze, Silver Apples, Franco Micalizzi and a lot more dangerous wonders.

Kiss caress and more until next time

I'm slow, but here's a hello.

Looks like I'm on a break of some sorts.

Catch you later.

Laxmikant-Pyarelal's 'Anita'

"... Lots of atmospheric things going on throughout, and a couple of great songs. Like the lovely Latin flavoured 'Karib Aa' and the more frantic 'Pichhware Budha Khansta'. There's plenty of dialogue on here as well... is it just me, or does the guy sound really sleazy? What puts this album on my list of favourites however are the two instrumentals - spooky bossa beats, creepy organs and massive John Barry-esque orchestrations - the second one in particular is truly amazing."

"Dylan was too, dare I say, white for my taste"

"Bryan Ferry has just recorded an album of his favourite Bob Dylan songs. Has he ever met him, I wonder?

"Oh no," says Ferry, as if alarmed at the very idea. "What would I say?" ....

... Oh, I didn't like Dylan at all when I first heard him," Ferry admits.
"I was a Northern soul boy, into mohair suits, electric guitars, horn sections, Otis Redding and Stax. Dylan was too, dare I say, white for my taste."
Yet Ferry was eventually seduced by the originality of Dylan's lyrical vision.
"He brought poetry into pop music and really started the whole phenomenon of the artist as composer. A lot of his songs are very beautiful, they seem to get deeper as you get older."

Her Pussy Belongs To Daddy

Cover has been censored by Mr. Bali Hai. Yep, it's the Bali Hai Twin Peaks!

"I don't like to work blue here on the Goof, but I have a nostalgic fondness for cheesy, innuendo-loaded, nudie novelty LPs from the 60's, and they don't come much cheesier, nudier, or innuendo-ier than "My Pussy Belongs to Daddy", a record chockful o' songs with eye-rolling double-entendre titles like, "Things Are Soft For Grandma", "Tony's Hot Nuts", and "She Sits Among the Cabbages and Peas". Despite the ridiculous titles, the songs are actually pretty decent; most are done in a smoky nightclub jazz style, and sung by naughty-record vet, Fay Richmonde (among others). ..."

Mr Bali Hai shares this naughty gem: My Pussy Belongs To Daddy.

Harry James in Hi Fi

"Harry James was one of the most outstanding instrumentalists of the swing era, employing a bravura playing style that made his trumpet work instantly identifiable. James wanted to make music that really swung and could be danced to all the time. He was one of the most popular bandleaders of the first half of the 1940s, and he continued to lead his band until just before his death, 40 years later. ...
In spring 1942 James and his band made the front page of the newspapers, when their gig at the Paramount Theatre New York caused traffic jams and riots. Adding to his media profile, James married Betty Grable, the number one pin up idol of the time, the next year. ...
Harry James in Hi-Fi, an album of re-recordings of his hits that reached the Top Ten. ..."

Go-Go vacation? Yesterdays aviation!

I'm not sure if it's still possible to have yourself a decent go-go vacation. At least, for say 20 or 30 years ago, it was something not just to dream about - it was actually something that some lucky bastards really could experience.
I must admit that flying in general is not my cup of tea. But if I could fly sipping on a luxurious cocktail in a safe and comfortable environment with a classy service, some good reading and appropriate music in my headphones I think I could manage pretty good.
