The Bevolicher Stole My Birthday

If some sort of fictitious bit of demonic nonsense stole your birthday, don't you think you'd become immortal? I mean, how bad would THAT be? Couldn't be worse than what these pagans went through making this video.

This week ...

... 4 years ago I started this site. Are there any readers still here from the start? I doubt it. The first months PCL didn't have that many hits. Most came, I think, from email-lists where I was a member and advertised the URL to. They came here and was greeted by this look.
But eventually the crowd grew a little bigger. And now some of them are highly appreciated team members.
PCL LinkDump is a team effort. But I think my initial idea to post about pop culture unveiling the obscure but fantastic parts as well as of course appreciating the more mainstream but good stuff still stands.
PCL is diverse, funny, artsy, childish, stylish, vulgar and utterly sexy.
And we are here to stay for another year.

I hope you have enjoyed the ride so far.

It's Johnnyuma Day!

Today we celebrate the birthday of our PCL cohort JOHNNYUMA who is well into geezerhood, by which I mean he was in the third grade when I was in the fifth.

Lord forbid I could have found a video of Johnny Cash singing the title tune from the classic TV series "Johnny Yuma", or something else equally meaningful. Instead, the best copy of the song I could find in the 2 minutes I had set aside for this important task is the music bed for someone's animation project in which a Super Mario plush toy poops out a plastic lion.

Which was what I was really looking for, after all.

Happy out-of-the-womb-day, Baikinange!

I thought about knitting you a space helmet for your birthday. But then I realized you probably only want the real thing. And, to be honest, knitting was ... a long time ago. It's so 1980s.

So I come up with nothing.

Then I thought about coming up with a nice long speech full of wit and complicated words.
To be a honest such a speech would probably sound best in Swedish if I was to write one.
Luckily there have been poets like Johnny Mercer who really knew how to put down the words ... and still ... he had problems.

Above track was taken from this great album.

You marvelously cope with us boys being boys on a daily basis here and still carve out some of the best pop cultural posts in this environment and in the whole blogosphere.
I am proud to say: Baikinange is on my team. Not yours. Mine!

Anyway, Ange, You are the best!

So happy birthday to all PCL'ers in advance.

Happy Birthday!

Do YOU know someone who has a Special Day today? Well, I do. So, Happy Birthday from Two Gun Pete, Annie Oakley, and the Space Pilot.

This wonderful vintage birthday plate was found at Compact Collection's Flickr site, along with some swell kids book graphics as well, like the one below.
