MAC: The Lo Fi Guy

For avid readers of PCL Linkdump you'd be caught in a bubble within a timewarp if you have not heard of the amazing freeform radio station WFMU.

Recently posted to YouTube is a 3-part short documentary on "MAC", host of the radio show, the Antique Phonograph Music Program. The show appear bi-weekly, every Tuesday, at 7PM Eastern Time.

Besides programming a radio show providing flashbacks of music close to a century old, there is a wonderful archive, The Internet Museum of Flexi/Cardboard/Oddity Records (that has been on the web for years).

Presented here is the wonderful documentary on MAC, his records, radio show and to fellow collectors of music from a bygone era I believe you will delight in these short videos.

WFMU Record Fair

One of my favorite things to do is the
WFMU Record Fair. This year, it's from Friday, October 24 thru Sunday, the 26th. I can't make it this year, because I have to work, but, I sure hope you all can go and get some records.

WFMU had introduced me to some great music throughout the years. Stuff like:

1. Cristina, too performance art for disco, too disco for the art world. She did a duet with Kevin Kline. (Disco clone). She also did a cover of "Is That All There Is?"

2. The Red Button

Another 365 days!

The 365 Days Project is back to share once more and the second time around it's happening right smack dab here every single day of 2007.

In 2003 I organized the first 365 Days with over 70 people sharing from their stash of aural treats. Same thing this year with new and old contributors. The only change in 2007 is that everyday can feature more then just one mp3 (as server space was tight four years ago). So look for single songs to full albums shared by a host of contributors. Sharing from their collections in January will be: The Bomarr Monk, Clayton Counts, Pea Hix, Oddio Katya, Michel LeGrisbi, Rocketboy, Strictly Kev, B.C. Sterrett, Mimi la Twisteuse and more.

To start off the year I'm going to backtrack (continue reading below the jump) to the first 365 Days and feature two full recordings instead of the excerpts provided in 2003. No need to write about the recordings as they speak for themselves. Shall we go?
