Swelling of the Organ

You only get one cut from this album from Atomic Vinyl Zombie, but those who love lame-ass party records won't care. And such a fetching album cover!

Eating Popcorn In The Grass

Our buddies at Mutant Family Values introduce us to the big sounds of The Ted Duff Duo.

Ted hails from parts unknown or the little town of Orillia, Ontario. A regular Rahsaan Roland Kirk of the keyboards, Ted cooked up his own little homemade 88's complete with five keyboards, pedalboard, Hammond B-3, Minimoog, Mellotron, and an echolette. Topped off with his unique vocals, the album is a tour de force of classics like "Satin Doll" and 70's mainstays like "Will It Go Round In Circles", "Schools Out" and the most excellent "Your Mama Don't Dance".

Scum of the Earth

Those of you living below Tobacco Road might enjoy a trip to Junk Shop Juke Box for his collection of punk, party records, B movie promo spots and more that I am too lazy to tell you about. Myself, I'm listening to Chubby Checker's Popeye the Hitchhiker and a song by the 1965 LA Rams from the blog.

Charley Drew, his piano, and his party songs

Man, it sure didn't take much to be considered saucy in the olden days....case in point, An Evening with Charley Drew and his naughty tunes about fallen women who pose in their scanties and other such scandalous stuff.

The Naughty Nightingale

Cabaret singer Reta Ray was known as the "Naughty Nightingale" for her saucy cabaret act, and her recordings on the Par-Dee label. The very generous Jim S. sent me these two Reta numbers, Can't Say No to a Man and Hot Rod. Thankee, Jim!

For more images and clippings, be sure to visit her daughter's site that shares a scrap book that Reta's momma kept of her career.

Live from the Trolley Bar in Fort Wayne Indiana

Let's step back in time to experience one of the most popular nightclub acts of 1961.....it's Mr. Bill Barner, his ivory-tickling stylings, and his irritating habit of sniggering at his own jokes. The "mirth-quake" of hee-larity begins here.

The Ribald Rage of Alaska

This is a bit of American history I did not know, courtesy of the liner notes of Roscoe Holland's 1961 album, For a Piece:

Here, in this sultry sex-loaded album, is ample proof why Roscoe is the ribald rage of Alaska and one of the most explosive forces that brought the 49th state into the Union.

After listening to the album you'll surely see how such classic party songs as "Stick Out Your Can, Here Comes The Garbage Man", and the flatulent tale of "Foul Mule Train" were a major reason that Alaska was granted statehood.

It's Naughty Party Time!

In response to some of the "saucy" music I've been posting lately, Mr. Zip Your Rip has been threatening to post some of his 60s party records for a while now....and he's made good on his promise. With such titles as "Mama's Well Has Gone Dry", "Where Can I Find A Cherry For My Banana Split?" and "Keep Your Knees Together Daughter" you can get a pretty good idea what's in store.

Whaddya think, Rip, do we need to start a blog devoted exclusively to sixties party records?

Sexcessfully Yours

Cute kitty cats? CRAFTS? That's not the PCL I know and love. Let's get back to PCL roots with a party record entitled Sexcessfully Yours that tries its damnedest to be naughty and provocative but is just jaw droppingly LAME. Next time you're having a party with 14 year old boys, bring this one out....they'll probably love it.

Yas! Yas! Yas!

You might call it torture, but I call it Kismet....in the past few days I have found two count 'em TWO version of the naughty little classic tune "The Duck's Yas Yas Yas". The second version being from this 1950s party record with the clunky title Laugh Provoking Ditties For The Party. It was recorded on Pearl Records from Covington Kentucky, so you know it HAS to be good.
