Let's bossa!

I'm sure I'm gonna make a lot of you very happy with this: a high quality vinyl rip of Alan Moorhouse's Beatles, Bach and Bacharach go Bossa from 1971 at Mister Olgertamey's.

Non-Stop to Brazil

"Silver Jet Take me I'm all set".

This charming clip is from the 1962 movie 'Copacabana Palace'. The voice is of course from the one and only Ipanema girl - Astrud Gilberto.

Dany Montano

Should I even bother to pretend that I would recommend this record by Dany Montano if it weren't for the delightfully inappropriate cover? Well, I actually listened to it AND liked it.

I Wonder as I Wanderley

Since everyone loves a happy organ, it seemed fitting to post another Walter Wanderley album, even though I just linked to one about a week ago. This one from 18 Rodas is vocals and instrumentals, from 1967.

Cúlpale a la Bossa Nova

Is it possible to have too many versions of "Blame it on the Bossa Nova"? Hell NO, I say. Especially as performed by Sal Mineo's (very) distant cousin Enrique Guzmán-- graciously offered to us by Loca, Loca Juventud. Bonus points for a Spanish version of Limbo Rock.

The Music of Eastern

Chris over at Ultra Swank tells us:
"... why not take a trip to the sun with Eastern Airlines? Here are six one-minute vintage commercials with none other than Brazilian bossa legend Astrud Gilberto on vocals. The jingles were recorded in the late 1960s and styled in different variations. Taken from a promotion 7" record intended for their employees only, but now offered to the Ultra Swank readers as well. ..."
Read the full entry and be sure to enjoy The Music of Eastern over at Ultra Swank.
