Ike Yard: 1980-82 Collected
Ike Yard... Night After Night (.mp3 audio 03:23, From the Les Disques Du Crepuscule EP release, Night After Night. Originally released in 1981). From Ike Yard: 1980-82 Collected (Acute Records ACT008 CD). "...Influenced by their punk upbringing, avant-garde schooling, and no wave surroundings in early 80s NYC, Ike Yard managed to create a new sound. By tapping into equal parts the krautrock experimentation of Can, the Neue Deutsche Welle of DAF and the UK post-punk dub of PiL and Joy Division they created sounds and songs unique enough to catch the attention of Factory Records, who made them their first American signing."

Gimmee Some Damn PIE

As much as I love the Dutch (and I KNOW they love me right back, kiss-kiss-kiss) we really do need to turn the focus back to the U.S., as we can’t ignore the Attention Whore of the Universe on her birthday, now can we? I know around the world, you’re saying to yourself, “what can I make for my 4th of July celebration picnic that practically screams AMERICA?”
Pie of the Month comes to the rescue with the ideal recipe, which I also remember from the very excellent Tacky Living. What says America more than highly processed artificially flavored candy that preys upon our freshness-anxiety, mixed into a fattening, sugar-infested mess, on which we can dollop a half-tub of Cool Whip?
Presenting....TicTac™ Pie.
1 graham cracker pie crust
Two 8 oz packages of cream cheese – softened
2 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
4 boxes of orange TicTac™ candies
Preheat oven to 350. Beat cream cheese slightly. Add eggs, sugar, vanilla, and lemon peel. Beat the mixture until it is light and fluffy. Add TicTac™ candies and mix lightly. Pour into crust. Bake until firm, about 25 minutes. Sprinkle TicTac™ candies over the pie and allow it to cool. Refrigerate at least 8 hours.
And if you’re a REAL American....Serves 1.

The mayor and the alderman of Juinen, performing with Doe Maar
Ehm, yes .... quite difficult to explain in a few words what's happening here: Two of the best Dutch TV-comedians ever performing with the most popular national pop-group in the eighties, on stage in a small Dutch village that only existed on Tv (and in a lot of people's minds).
