Good thing my buds are looking out for me. My pal, John Zoller, has been turning me on to some cool sounds of late. His latest path has been the mind blowing sounds of Billy Nicholls who is known for a wonderful album released in the sixties entitled, Would You Believe. The album was released by The Immediate label but due to problems with the label the album received only a limited release and has since gone on to enjoy cult status. Obvious Brian Wilson/Pet Sounds influence on this one (although I hear Ray Davies in there as well).

The Loos of England

I knew of a few tunes by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick, and Tich (including the song "Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick, and Tich" which I don't know if anyone else ever did a cover version of) but not of their tune celebrating the superior public toilets of Britain. The album title is pretty swell too, If Music Be the Food of Love....Prepare for Indigestion . None of the three gentlemen look particularly sleepy nor possessing a particularly prominent proboscis so I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that this side of the album cover depicts Dave Dee, Mick and Tich. Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong.

Georgie Fame
Rediscovered Georgie Fame last night at my buddy, Martin's, abode. We were dueling with Grooveshark seeing who could outdo each other with obscure 60's tunes and he nailed it with this ditty by Georgie and The Blue Flames.
Also love the outro here with the top 40 countdown.....
The Georgie Fame Website has some cool photo's and memorabilia for your perusal.
Georgie should've shot his publicist for this cover shot

Current Hits

Ah yes, the cheapie knock off albums of the sixties, designed to separate cold hard cash from the people who didn't bother to read fine print.
I remember the ones that were marketed "As sung by the Original Artists" and of course it the music wasn't by the person who had originally recorded it, but by a band whose name was "The Original Artists".
Tobaldolang's House of Music (which sounds like an emporium that would have sold this type of album) has plenty of these old stinkers, including a British Invasion album with Cockney accents via Nashville. Don't miss the abysmal "Mrs Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter" from "From Britain With Beat".
