Good thing my buds are looking out for me. My pal, John Zoller, has been turning me on to some cool sounds of late. His latest path has been the mind blowing sounds of Billy Nicholls who is known for a wonderful album released in the sixties entitled, Would You Believe. The album was released by The Immediate label but due to problems with the label the album received only a limited release and has since gone on to enjoy cult status. Obvious Brian Wilson/Pet Sounds influence on this one (although I hear Ray Davies in there as well).

Now here's some DJs that have proved memorable for me for a variety of reasons, and also have me conjecturing that they have had the pleasure at one point or another in their lives, and have also judiciously avoided an early demise unlike the subject of the song...:

Michael Tierson (center) who always seemed to catch the correct vibe of what was on the menu - an affable chap., sounded like he was laying down...


Jimmy Saville, straight from the pages of the Beano, knighted and beknighted (for his looks)


...and Soupy Sales, sire of Tony and Hunt friend to Pookie and White Fang, but who got his start in radio.

'I Don't See Any Candy'

Based on the preachings of Reverend Estus W. Pirkle, this film warns what will happen to America if the citizens do not give up their depraved ways and turn to God and Jesus for salvation. Communist infiltrators, the "footmen", will pave the way for an all out invasion by weakening our will through TV, dance, rock music and alcohol. Once the invasion begins, the new Communist government will proceed to round up all Christians, and either execute them or force them to undergo re-education. Only by putting their faith in the bible where it belongs, says Rev. Pirkle, can America resist the coming Red Menace.

What a $700 record sounds like

In case you haven't already figured it out, I am a record collecting philistine. I zero in on the dollar bins for the collector's rejects. The most I ever paid for an album (and my audacity still shocks me) was $30 for a Roscoe Holland album, because it had farting songs on it. So while I myself am not the least impressed with this obscure record by Infinite Love Experience that goes for up to $700, maybe you are. Question: does an out of tune bass player add or detract from the value?

Hurry hurry, my friends, it's re-up time at Boot Sale Sounds, so you get a second chance to grab downloads such as Yiddisher Yodeler by George Van Dusen (his Yodeling Chinaman is one of my iPod treasures!), the Gossip Calypso by Bernard Cribbins, and the mega-strange Happy Monsters children's album--Clap Your Tentacles is essentially Papa's Got a Brand New Bag with bizarro percussion and squeaking rubber duckies. Perfect for grabbing control of a kids party away from Raffi and Barney, or whatever musical horrors kids are subjected to these days.

OK Brazil music fans....I need a complete version of Jackson do Pandeiro's Samba do Ziriguidum. I'm not a huge Jackson fan, and sort of stumbled across it and fell in love....and the copy I have abruptly ends at 2:44. So, I tried to download another version from a different site....and that one also cuts out at 2:44. Cna anyone save my life and give me a complete copy of the song? Please?
