Yub Nub. Eee Chop Yub Nub.
(This is an audio only clip. Sorry.)
Like any self-respecting nerdy kid in the late '70s, I lived and died with the original "Star Wars" trilogy. Meco's 1977 disco version of the "Star Wars" theme blew my 6-year-old mind when it came out, but somehow his 1983 follow-up version of the Ewok song from "Return of the Jedi" didn't cross my 12-year-old radar. If it had, I probably would have had a junior nerdgasm over it. But discovering it now as an adult, I can recognize it for the atrocity it is. Give it a try and at least try to stick around to the 3:52 mark when a rap by a bad C-3PO impersonator really sends it off the rails.

Stormtroopers love kittens
Lucas-free Star Wars-ian expressions of creativity remind me of the joy I once took from the Original Trilogy. Check out the fabulous photo work of Mike Stimpson aka Balakov on Flickr - lots of fun stuff

May the Meat in a Can Be With You.
After a week of being laid low by a horrible cold and various other personal travails, nothing hits the spot like a wild intersection of classic "Star Wars" and Japanese TV. Thank you, Japan, for renewing my faith in humanity.

La Guerre des Étoiles
Apparently, in the French version of Star Wars there were four Darth Vaders, and they were all somewhat effeminate and probably in love with their own sister.

"My First Visit to the Movies"
Like many people of a certain age, my first trip to the movies was to see Star Wars. My father took me to the theatre, which only had one screen, the next town over. It was the Summer of 1977.
Growing up, when my brother and cousins would be playing "Star Wars", I was Princess Leia. I even went as her for Halloween one year, complete with the "doughtnut" hairdo.
Star Wars has been a cultural influence and dissected to death.
That first trip to the movies helped to foster a love of cinema, both independent and mainstream. When the new set came out, I took my dad. I didn't want to see it with anyone else.
