Debra Paget's First Dance for Fritz Lang

Two years ago or so Debra Paget's dance from Das Indische Grabmal (The Indian Tomb) was on a bunch of sites owing to her "artificially nude" appearance juxtaposed over Fritz Lang's exotic and tense mise en scene. It looked cool. This clip:

is not dissimilar and it's from the first film of his Indian Epic Trilogy - Der Tiger Von Eschnapur. The set is pretty spectacular as is Paget's gusto towards getting the performance maximized. A great lepers-that-look-like-zombies scene shortly follows in the film.

Kamal Haasan, Tamil Superstar

Who is the Tamil star that has gone from childhood actor to modern-day superstar in a career that has spanned more than 45 years? Why it's Kamal Hassan. According to Wikipedia, Dr. Hassan is "a self-professed atheist and rationalist" - which makes him pretty awesome in my book. But even better, he can hold his own in a seriously all-over-the-map fight.

Oh, and check out his dance moves in this post over on Visual Guidance, which features Kamal as some sort of biker/disco hybrid star. Amazing stuff!

Laxmikant-Pyarelal's 'Anita'

"... Lots of atmospheric things going on throughout, and a couple of great songs. Like the lovely Latin flavoured 'Karib Aa' and the more frantic 'Pichhware Budha Khansta'. There's plenty of dialogue on here as well... is it just me, or does the guy sound really sleazy? What puts this album on my list of favourites however are the two instrumentals - spooky bossa beats, creepy organs and massive John Barry-esque orchestrations - the second one in particular is truly amazing."

Music From The Third Floor's project: "A box of some 150 Bollywood soundtracks on vinyl; classics, duds, and those with one or two good songs on thems. The plan: Make MP3s and upload them all here, on a semi-regular basis. ..."
Sound like a good plan. I'm game.
