orgogoriental

The song "ne tirez pas sur l'organiste" (don't shoot the organist) is so weird, composed by Jean Ferrat and Alain Goraguer in 1968, it is a strange little piece of music with spectacular sound effects and a latin feeling!

Face A: à Santiago

Face B: ne tirez pas sur l'organiste

Thanks to Frog n' roll for sharing this rare record with me, i mean with us.

confessions of an opium eater

Albert Zugsmith - Confessions of an Opium Eater (1962)

"A new projected series of releases on Chinstrap is music & sound-design of interest extracted from public-domain films. Not claiming to be the definitive packaging of the music and sound enclosed, we rather present the work for the possibility of further investigation into the composers and sound-designers featured."

Read more about the project, download the soundtrack and the movie at Chinstrap music.

And now listen to these strange and amazing sounds!

BEAUTY IS THE BEAST

I adore burlesque "Beauty and Beast" acts of old where schlubs in ill-fitting, mangy gorilla suits sweated it up on stage, pawing and groping pretty gals in skimpy, diaphanous outfits. A delightfully surreal twist on the act blends the two elements together in a Siamese twinning of the fair maiden and her animalistic tormentor. Pictured below is Little Brooklyn, a modern burlesque dancer I discovered on MySpace, who still cavorts about the stage in the same fashion as her predecessor above.

"......spaced out fringe folk with unusual inner-city vibe..."

From the liner notes of Jerry Rayson's "The Weird Thing in Town":

“In this album I only use three sounds instead of all of them and three languages with African accents. The music of it is called primitive soul music...If you enjoy the new and the weird, this is for you.”

The album references boogaloo and limbo, journeys into space, with time out for an extended anti-junkie and -hobo rant. Acid Archives called Jerry Rayson's "Weird thing In Town" "...spaced out fringe folk with unusual inner-city vibe and Puerto Rican tangents."

Continuing with my monster-music kick, you can dig up a coffin full of terrifying tunage, courtesy of the Sinister Dr. Sparber, who is now channeling the spirit of the Essential Ghoul's Record Shelf over at his latest 'blog, 50,000,000 Sparber Fans Can't Be Wrong.

The Ghoul's latest entry features vintage television horror-host, Zacherle, the Cool Ghoul, crooning his big hit, Dinner With Drac. Mmmm, batwing confetti and the veins of a mummy named Betty. Now them's good eatin'!

More Essential Ghoularity.

Everybody Do the Zombie Stomp!

No, not the Ozzy Osbourne version, the one by the Del-Aires as performed in the 1964 drive-in classic, Horror of Party Beach. You know, the movie with the undead atomic monster who has a mouth full of hot dogs.
