Turkey in space!!!
From Star Medley to Star Turk (Yes, I'm entitled to that particular silly joke) is one hell of a leap.
In the seventies there was a group of Turkish TV-makers that took their work very seriously, appearently that is. I found this Turkish version of Star Trek. So instead of replacing the voices with those of Turkish actors, as a lot of other countries did, they went one step further: they recreated the whole thing. Or is it a parody? It doesn't look and sound like it...
update by myeck: This is actually a bit from a movie called "Turist Omer Uzay Yolunda" AKA "Turkish Star Trek". There were about eight films starring "Omer the tourist.

Star Medley
Everything about this clip— from the star-shaped disco ball, to the sudden appearance of Milton Berle, to the strangely hypnotic sight of Ann B. Davis and Rip Taylor slow-dancing together while speaking in tongues, to Florence Henderson and Tina Turner getting their freak on at the very end— is made of WIN!

Remembering the 'rural purge'
Next month marks the 40th anniversary of when CBS said goodbye to Jed and all his kin and cancelled The Beverly Hillbillies as part of the network's "rural purge" — a cancellation of shows (in 1971 almost half of the CBS's shows were axed and urban sitcoms like All in the Family started) that included two of my favorite shows: Green Acres and Hee Haw.

Kegler Mania
It's February here in Western NY and all energies are geared toward our favorite pastime, bowling. Well actually, our two favorite pastimes - bowling and drinking. It's fortuitous that this one sport is ripe for indulging in in both amusements.
When not at the lanes, you can bone up on your kegler trivia and knowledge at Dr. Jake's Bowling History Blog and buffalo your pals with your ten-pin acumen.

Hi-Fi Masterpiece
There are so many gems on this crappy-kitsch Hi-Fi Masterpiece (it says so on the back cover, so it MUST be true) I had trouble deciding which to use as an example. If soap opera organ meets flirtatiously eloquent accordion combo is YOUR cup of tea, go get this winner from the Triads, this one will grace my playlists for some time to come.

Mercy!
I have a special place in my heart for obscure B-side throwaways, such as this mid-sixties Don Covay tune that crams in as many references to hit tunes and dances as he could in two minutes and twenty seconds. More Don Covay can be found at Flash 1964 di Generizioni e "Pick-up".

John Byner
John Byner did the voices for the cartoon The Ant and the Aardvark, which appeared in the Pink Panther Cartoon series from 1969-1971. The characters are voiced by Byner's impressions of Dean Martin and Jackie Mason. There were 17 theatrical shorts directed by Friz Freleng, (Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies).
Byner guest starred in many television shows including Get Smart, The Odd Couple, Soap and Hollywood Squares. He also hosted the television show Bizarre. He's married to actress Annie Gaybis. His official website is here.
From WIKI: In German-dubbed versions of the cartoon, the protagonists no longer imitate well-known actors. The male aardvark is transformed into a female anteater named Elise (Eliza). Charlie (voiced by Fred Maire) remains male, but is no longer a Dean Martin parody. Elise is voiced by Marianne Wischmann, one of Germany's most renowned voice actresses.
