John Byner

John Byner did the voices for the cartoon The Ant and the Aardvark, which appeared in the Pink Panther Cartoon series from 1969-1971. The characters are voiced by Byner's impressions of Dean Martin and Jackie Mason. There were 17 theatrical shorts directed by Friz Freleng, (Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies).

Byner guest starred in many television shows including Get Smart, The Odd Couple, Soap and Hollywood Squares. He also hosted the television show Bizarre. He's married to actress Annie Gaybis. His official website is here.




From WIKI: In German-dubbed versions of the cartoon, the protagonists no longer imitate well-known actors. The male aardvark is transformed into a female anteater named Elise (Eliza). Charlie (voiced by Fred Maire) remains male, but is no longer a Dean Martin parody. Elise is voiced by Marianne Wischmann, one of Germany's most renowned voice actresses.

Most people know Bart Simpson is voiced by a woman, but few know that the first Elroy Jetson was brought to life by Lucille Bliss, who later went on to fame and fortune providing the voice for Smurfette. The always entertaining Yowp tells the tale.

Private SNAFU - Booby Traps (1944)

Private Snafu learns about the hazards of enemy booby traps the hard way.

This is one of 26 Private SNAFU (Situation Normal, All F***ed Up) cartoons made by the US Army Signal Corps to educate and boost the morale the troops. Originally created by Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss) and Phil Eastman, most of the cartoons were produced by Warner Brothers Animation Studios - employing their animators, voice actors (primarily Mel Blanc) and Carl Stalling's music.

The History of the Chipmunks

ASIFA offers up this in-depth history of the Chipmunks.

Ross Bagdasarian Sr. (who went by the stage name "David Seville")....bought a tape recorder with his last $200 and played around with shifting the speeds, coming up with a novelty song titled "Witch Doctor". He got the single released and two weeks later, he found himself appearing on the Ed Sullivan Show performing the song....The success of "Witch Doctor" gave him the idea of creating characters with sped up voices, so he quickly knocked out a Christmas demo titled "The Chipmunk Song" and took it to record executives Simon "Sy" Waronker, Theodore "Ted" Keep and Alvin "Al" Bennett at Liberty Records. The label was close to bankruptcy, but Bagdasarian convinced them that they might as well press Chipmunk singles with the leftover vinyl pucks and labels in their warehouse rather than just turn the unused stock over to the bank when the business went under. Production commenced and in just a few months leading up to Christmas of 1958, the record shot to the top of the charts, becoming one of the best selling singles of all time.
