Built from the fortunes of an analgesic salve, Singapore’s Haw Par Villa (once known as Tiger Balm Theme Park) displays some of the more gruesome aspects of Chinese folklore. Enjoy such family favorites as the Ten Stages of Buddhist Hell, which graphically depict the penalties for wasting food, misuse of books, neglecting your in-laws, ingratitude and disrespect (uh oh).
The mercrab doesn’t seem too upset with his lot, so maybe it’s the sort of thing that grows on you after a millennium or two.
