I think we haven't had that encouraging stats since 2 years back.

You'll almost be inclined to murmur "wow", from the not quite properly tuned "O Homem So" (Nowhere Man) to the practically satisfactory version of "Satisfaction" and an Ambien-infused "Groovy Kind of Love"....it's deep-fried pop goodness with a synthetic aftertaste from Brazilian Nuggets.

As usual I am a day late and a dollar short, or however the saying goes, wouldn't it have been nice to have a copy of Divine's cha-cha heels tirade from the 1974 classic "Female Trouble" to play on Christmas day? Well, you're ready for next year anyway, with an unofficial "mini-soundtrack" of Female Trouble, courtesy of Universal Horror Sounds. Also contains "Dig" by Nervous Norvus, and Divine's divine performance of the title tune.

Let the Swing and Strings Library Music-a-Go-Go Fantasy Commence

Soon after I posted a collection of the 1960s TV commercial background music I own I got a note from a generous person named Bryan who seems to have a great knowledge of the genre--as well as a great collection of the music, which he then shared with me. And also allowed me to share it here with you, in all of its schlocky 60s goodness.
An exhaustive description of what library music is (I found it rather exhausting as well), and a history of some of its most famous composers can be found here.

Pricked

The Museum of Arts & Design in NYC presents their exhibition Pricked: Extreme Embroidery now through March 9, featuring updated versions of handcraft traditions. I read about the exhibit in a great article in the NY Times about Pearl Lam, a Shanghai decorator who commissioned a sofa featuring hand-embroidered images from a gay bondage magazine (that part of the artwork must be on a different part of the sofa than what is shown below). A twin of Ms. Lam's sofa appears in the exhibition.
What a great addition a sofa like that would be in my family room. "Welcome Aunt Tillie....some tea and scones? And won't you sit over here on the divan....?"

Lord, I need some Dramamine after watching this video, that set is something ELSE. The wallpaper reminds me of Father Ted's bathroom.

Though the best part for me is that the model's dangling legs seem to stay in frame for like about 10 minutes. "Tout les sha-la-la-la tout les whoa-whoa..."

The Chicago Tribune has an edifying article about the history of fake vomit from ancient times to the present (including the primitive stone models found in Tutankhamen's tomb that fooled no one--OK, I made that part up). CRAZY FISH POSTCARDS

These postcards have been printed in the 1950's, in my hometown Toulouse (France). From time to time i bought some in a thrift shop (un bazar) near my apartment, they have tons of them. You can find more kitschissime postcards scans from the 60s and 70s on my Flick'r "nostalgia" set.
