We thought we round things up with a few Swedish celeb recordings. Film star Stellan Skarsgård did have a long and varied career in Sweden before hitting the international film screens. He started out as a kid in the TV-series Bombi Bitt in the late 1960s. Trying to earn a few extra bucks this spin-off single (1968) hit the shops and that’s about all it did. Stellan is still a bit touchy about this one but we just love that jacket. Inger Nilsson played Pippi Longstockings, to much acclaim, in the three original movies. But back then no one thought that much about tax planning so after the success of her films the IRS came down hard on her. So hard that she ended up owing more than she had earned (that’s Sweden for you). In a really strange move to earn some money to pay them off this disco single (1977) appeared. Only trouble was that it was so bad that no one – and we do mean no one – bought it. Yet another Swedish film star trying to dip into the disco trend was Bond bird Britt Ekland, not favouring much better with the public in 1979, mostly selling a few copies because of a nude cover version.
