Theremin Cello: Cool.. but can it Liquify Organs?

We all know about the Theremin, but what ever happened to the Theremin Cello?

"It was also used by the great Stokowski to reinforce his orchestra's bass section, it is said that the subsonic rumblings made some of the orchestra members complain of sickness...... was later abandoned due to the side effects caused by subharmonic frequencies on the orchestra's string section."

Promising technology abandoned because of a couple of whining underpaid violists. Ready for an upgrade by some modern bands. The kids might like the side effects.

Sunday Project

Lord knows I have no better way to spend my Sunday, so I think I'll tackle this little build you own theremin project from the April 1955 Popular Electronics. The "T-V" arms sticking out just gives the project a little more panache, don't you think?

Toe-Tappin' Theremin

It once was lost but now is found, they thought it got mixed in with that bunch of old clothes that was sent to the Goodwill, but NO! Clara Rockmore's Lost Theremin Album has been located, so now we can all have versions of La Vie en Rose and Summertime as performed on electronic musical saw, a description I'm sure will provoke the ire of theremin lovers across the globe.
