Drool @ Mr Bricklabel's Photostream

I am desperately un-in-love with Flickr, but one can't argue with success as in the case of the exquisite collection of fireworks labels at Mr Bricklabel's photostream I lust after this type of imagery, and he delivers in spades. Go there, but put away your matches.

Happy Guy Fawkes'

Light some fuses, Fawkers!
This robot puts on quite a show.
I remember watching a yob on the coal smoke fogged front garden of a Perth, Scotland row of homes firing off massive rockets on Guy Fawkes' Day. Exquisitely foolhardy and dangerous - the garden was the size of a postage stamp, with a one foot high fence. Across the street was a little girl in a beautiful frilly coat, like a china doll, screaming in tears - just abject terror at each blast, as I got closer, thinking she was locked out, her mother open the door and said, "Kylie! Wha' are ye standin' there? Come in th' hoose! Then she ran in.
The end.

U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.! U.S.A.!

I was on my way back from Eastern Ohio through Pennsylvania and just HAD to stop in at one or two of the many you-can-buy-fireworks-if-you're-not-from-here-so-you-can-burn-your-own-state-down fireworks stores and saw that the design standards had, erm, evolved somewhat capturing the zeitgeist with a 12"x12" cube of 36 shots or so of full color pyrotechnic chaos. Apologies for the shite pix - I'm waiting for my Droid......

Va Va Va Boom!!

I continue to have a fascination with firecracker wrappers. As a kid, I used to be reluctant to open the packages for fear of wrecking the exotic art that was affixed to the pack. I imagined this saved me a few fingers as well..... in any case, Exposur3's Flickr Page is chock full of these goodies.

Let's Stay Indoors

Between the heat, mosquitoes, and—might I be frank?--crowds of the Great Unwashed precariously nearby, the upcoming Fourth of July celebrations hold little appeal. This year I’m enjoying my celebration with a select few in the privacy and air conditioned comfort of my own home, with help from this fabulous array of indoor fireworks.

And please, put a coaster down first, if you’re going to deploy the “Erupting Lava” on the antique burl maple table.
