ТЕХНИКА-МОЛОДЕЖИ
Covers of ТЕХНИКА-МОЛОДЕЖИ (Technology of Youth) magazine during the 1960s. If only they hadn't turned out to be a generation of slackers and had actually created some of these cars.

Здравствуй,песня!

Здравствуй,песня ("Hello Song!" in English) was a russian music ensemble which in 1979 recorded an album called "We Love Disco" (Мы любим диско) which was a flirt with the popular disco-era music from the west mainly made possible because of the winter Olympics 1980 in Moscow.
Here they are with a cover of Eruption's "One Way Ticket To the Moon":
Here is yet another stylish performance of a song from the "We Love Disco"-album - "Не Обещай" ("No Promises"):

"Western" music according to commie puppets.
The YouTube uploader's title of this video is "Soviet Era puppet number portraying "Western" music".
Well, I am not sure, but it sounds like the good old commie puppets were down with Spike Jones and The Residents. Because this is simply to good to be mockery or satire.

The truth about Mr Trololo
Interview with Edward -Trololo- Hil
"By the way the clip that is now circling in the internet was made in Sweden. I know it for sure because I am in a Swedish suit there which I got in exchange for souvenirs from Soviet Union – matreshka doll and a souvenir samovar."
Edit mrdantefontana: Here is a clip with Eduard sitting down watching the trololo craze on the net, with English subtitles.

Soviet Mayan Playing Cards

"... The only vendor for playing cards (as for many other stuff in Soviet Russia) was the Soviet State, so there were only a few type of the cards - just maybe ten at most, not hundreds or thousands as in free market societies, and one of the types of the playing cards were devoted to the Mayan culture for some reason. ..."

Daniil Kharms

The offbeat Danish site The Scampton Veterinary Optician has collected some of the works of Daniil Kharms (1905-42), a Soviet author of absurdist stories and poems published in underground magazines. Kharms was arrested for writing "defeatist propaganda", and was sentenced to a Leningrad prison prior to the siege of Leningrad, where he died in 1942.
Besides the collected Kharms stories, the Scampton Veterinary Optician also offers useful phrases in several different languages as a public service:
German:
I'm up to my knees in entrails!
Ich stehe bis zu den Knie in Eingeweide!
Hebrew:
Where can one find a reliable soap-importer?
Eifo motz'im jevuan-sabon meheiman?
Georgian:
Willingly or unwillingly, you will swallow this pill!
Nebsit tu unebliet gadaq'lap'av am abs!

Russia in the early 80s

"These are some illustrations from the book “The Russians” by Alexandr Kalion ...
These are Russian people of early 80s, right before the collapse of USSR."
Some great photos from Russia Early 80s at English Russia. (via LinkFilter)
Note Brasklapp: I know these photos are probably not representative for Russian life in the early 80s. These are great photos nevertheless!

The Enemy Agent & You
"Cold War counter-spy instructional film created to convince government officials traveling with top secret info to watch their backs.
Watch hapless G-men get seduced and setup for blackmail by treacherous Soviet she-spies.
Includes clandestine spy gadgets a la James Bond and jarring, film noir-esque music."
The Department Of Defence (the 60s version) presents 'The Enemy Agent & You':
