I Love My Life The Way It Is

I've found the secret to life with this web project.

"I had an ex that used to play lottery scratch cards every week. Most weeks she lost. Some weeks she won a few bucks. It got me thinking about the whole lottery thing - getting your hopes high, dreaming, escaping, and then usually being let down.
This happens to me on a daily basis WITHOUT the lottery's help, so I find the whole thing funny. I didn't need the lottery messing with my life. So as an experiment, I started buying scratch cards and not scratching them."

New Year's Resolution: Learn to Play Bongos

dickie-dickie-dickie-dockie......so goes the basic bongo beat. I'm not sure I actually want to learn how to play the bongos or just enjoy the strange how-to 45 found at Negroes With Guns.

Calypso Mama

Maureen DuValier was Calypso Mama, and she does a couple of killer versions of "Run Joe" (covered by Louis Jordan) and "Yes Yes Yes" (which I know as "The Duck's Yass Yass Yass"), which may or may not be the only calypso song to reference John Dillinger. You can find it at The Sly Mongoose.

Mee Too

This would be circa 1984 at Woodcock Lake in northwest Pennsylvania. I can't explain why my hair is so enormous but luckily I've since had it cut.

Dance sisters dance!

I've stumled upon them before. The "Four Gyro-Pogo Tops" or "Pan's People". A lot of things aren't clear about these girls, but here they are again.

Update: Pan's people's videos appearently used to be recycled.

Gott Nytt År!

This little guy came by in a time machine from about 1970. He just popped over to wish everyone a great 2009.

Here's what happens when you're a baby Hair Hopper

... and your aunt is a hairdresser. While faced with a plethora of embarrassing baby photos, I find this one says it all: baby's first wash'n'set. Most likely early 1967.

Isn't it happiness?

2008 was great! I turned 30 with that same smile stuck on my face!
I wish you all the best for 2009!

The Past You Say?

I can assure you - I no longer bear any resemblance to this chap..... except that my volatility still scares the squares. Happy New Year - my least favorite holiday.

a new beginning

Happy 2009 everybody! This pictures was taken in the first weeks of my existence, summer 64, just a few minutes after some lunatic in a funny dress had been pouring water over my head for no reason. I still hate him for that. He never even apologized.

He had his reasons for dismissing your stocking this year.

Happy New Year Part Deux

Here's to a happy and healthy 2009.
