La Gallinita Twist

Don't you hate when this happens, just as you get through making a brand new and groovy poultry mix, you find yet another chicken song that just cries out to be added! And that would be La Gallinita Twist by Los Teen Agers, from Recuerdos de Juventud con Lufaro Pedro Cecelia.

*Adults Twist at Your Own Risk!

Could this be the first warning label ever to appear on an album cover? There are no obscene lyrics to be found here, only songs with titles like "Lose Your Inhibitions Twist" and "Twistin' Bones" which is the knee-bone-connected-to-the-shin-bone song. It might be for "'teen twisters only", but it's available at an old person's blog AKA my blog.

Post-Elvis career moves

How does you follow up a career start as bass player on Elvis’ hit versions of “Heartbreak Hotel”, Mystery Train”, and “Hound Dog”? With a Saxy Jazz album that is “teen terrific for dancing”, I guess.

Almost grown

Photo by Joseph Szabo from the Almost Grown book published in 1978.
"Joseph Szabo has been photographing his teen-age students for the past twenty-five years, and has perfectly captured the ambivalence of that time of life. As a high school teacher of photography, he takes seriously their pretentions, passions, and confusions, and he knows intimately how students put on, act up, behave, and misbehave."
