Troublesome news
Exciting news, as we've mentioned on our blog, Haloscan, the legacy comment system that JS-Kit acquired last year, is getting upgraded to the new Echo platform.
You are receiving this email because, according to our records, you are (or have been) a Haloscan user.
This transition will happen in batches of users over the course of a couple of months. You are in the current batch!
We encourage you to log into your Haloscan admin dashboard right away (http://haloscan.com/members/)
. You will be presented with 2 options.
- Upgrade to Echo for $9.95/year - all your comment data will be transitioned over automatically
- Export your Haloscan comment data for free and turn off their service
Please make sure you make a selection within the next two weeks to ensure uninterrupted service.
While Haloscan has a been a trusted friend for many, the reality is that the servers and the software are beginning to fail and our small startup is unable to continue to support two platforms. We recognize that change is always difficult and daunting, however we hope that the new features, great support and constant innovation on the Echo platform will offset the challenges of any switch.
We will do our best to try to minimize the turbulence. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this period.
As questions emerge, we will add answers to the Haloscan -> Echo upgrade FAQ page.
Please post specific support requests to our support forum here.
Kind regards,
The Haloscan/JS-Kit team.
I have, however, not found a way to to import them into the blogger comment system.
I will of course keep the files stored. Maybe one of you guys out there have a solution.
But it looks like there is a big risk that we are losing all previous comments when we are moving over to blogger comments. Because I am not paying for this new Echo service.
What a heist!
I'm cranky.

About posting comments
Just some words about commenting on PCL LinkDump.
Everyone is allowed to post a comment as long as they do not include links to sites WE do not want to see there. That means sites of no interest to the general PCL reader and sites with little or no relation to what we usually post here: the pop culture we love.
Everyone is allowed to comment as long as they keep an eye on their language and on the subject.
Everyone should also be aware of the fact that all comments are logged and that WE can see the IP adress and/or the IP adress range. You should also keep in mind that if you post anonymous and violating the rules above or just make us mad WE are able to ban you from future commenting.
You will not only be banned. WE will track you down. And after a time you will get a comment from the PCL management on your blog, social network account or in your mailbox. If we're good at finding good stuff links - WE are superior at tracking trolls or cowards down.
Critical comments about the posts are indeed welcome - and so are of course the nice and friendly comments. It's all about approaching the subject whith a decent attitude and common sense.
To put it short: WE more or less allow all comments except spam, porn links and agressive flame posts. But in the end it's our decision.
Keep it clean.
Thanks.

Comments gone (edit: up and running again)
If not - I will think about uninstalling the haloscan widget and install the blogger comment feature instead. I hate to do that. I have been quite satisfied with haloscan this far. But with no possibility to post comments these pages stops being a real blog. Comments are important.
Any comments on that? Eh .. sorry ... forgot you're mute.

Edit: Up and working again. Good!
