Achoo Cha Cha

I have previously sung the praises of China's lovely film star Grace Chang on these pages, but was unable to locate any MP3s of her music. A last.fm connection came to my rescue and led me to these downloads, which he generously allowed me to share. The highlights are the goofy "Achoo Cha Cha", and a cover of Louis Jordan's "I Want You To Be My Baby".

The video above is another cha cha featuring Grace, from the 1961 movie "Mambo Girl".

EDIT: I stand corrected, Mambo Girl WAS released in 1957 as stated in the comments. I apologize for the rookie mistake of taking for gospel truth something on YouTube without first verifying.

1960s Chinese pop star Nancy Sit performing Herman's Hermits song "No Milk Today", which provides some brief but enticing back street glimpses into China at that time.

We have linked to Garage Hangover's treasure trove of Nancy Sit music before, but it never hurts to try to lead you there again.
This second Nancy film clip is added simply because she just looks so damn cute in bunny ears.

"Carrying Manure Up The Mountainside", isn't that a song written by Dolly Parton? And haven't I heard "Young Intellectuals Come To The Home Of The Yi People"? Hm. Was it Beck's latest album? Or was it Momus 3:rd? I'm not sure.

Thousand-hand Bodhisattva

The "Thousand-hand Bodhisattva" perfomance by the China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe (CDPPAT) [Chinese Homepage here]. The dance is performed by 21 deaf and mute dancers. Beautiful! (via Exotica)
