As I told you in splogcast 17 I'm going to take it easy, for I'm concentrating on my children's music site. I've asked you to send in your own splogcasts. The first response comes from Remco Takken, who already produced two other shows.
Remco says about this splogcast:
"This could be a radio show with the title 'My Hero'. Guitarist Robert Quine has been with me since I was fifteen years old. I was listening to Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground back then. Later, in the early nineties, when I spent much time with John Zorn's music, I rediscovered Quine, especially his feedbacking version of Once Upon A Time In The West, an Ennio Morricone piece played under Zorn's direction.
To me it feels that Robert Quine's musical growth took place in perfect parallel with my own. I kept bumping into him over the years. I don't think am a fan, but the music he produced sound like it's especially made for me.
I was devastated when I heard about his suicide in 2004. He was 63 years old when he took his life, not long after his wife died of cancer. I will take every opportunity I can get to say 'thank you' To Robert."
