"... It’s an interesting piece, and with Shepp, Braxton, Jenkins, Freeman, and Jones blowing & beating & scraping their brains out; the fortunate composer couldn’t have dreamed of a better orchestra. I’ve found that the heavy blues feel sucks in some friends that find a lot of my favorite 1960s free jazz records too free. L.T. ‘Chicago Beau’ Beauchamp’s distorted vocals remind most folks of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, and that’s not a bad thing. Too bad Screamin’ Jay never recorded for ..."
